Can I combine Vyond content with Articulate 360?

Yes. Vyond exports a finished video as a file, and Storyline 360 and Rise 360 import that file as content. So the process involves exporting, not a direct connection between the two tools. The benefit lies in what becomes possible afterward: On its own, a video simply plays from start to finish. In a course, you can pause it, insert a quiz question, or build a branching scenario from multiple sequences where the next scene depends on the answer.

Export a video from Vyond #

  1. Click ” More Options” on the video thumbnail.
  2. Select ” Download HD (720p) ” to download directly, or ” Generate Full HD (1080p).” The 1080p version will be generated and then sent to you via email.
  3. Save the MP4 file in the same folder where your course project is located.

For short sequences without sound, Vyond also exports GIFs at 600 or 720 pixels.

Insert a Video in Storyline 360 #

  1. Open the slide and go to the Insert tab on the ribbon.
  2. Click the arrow below ” Video ” and select ” Video from File.”
  3. Select the file and click ” Open.” The video will then appear on the slide and can be positioned just like any other object and controlled using triggers.

Storyline 360 processes MP4 and WebM files as-is. It also accepts other formats, but converts them to MP4 when they are inserted. Since Vyond exports MP4 files anyway, there’s no need for conversion—and thus no loss of quality.

Insert a Video in Rise 360 #

In Rise 360, place a video block where you want it and upload the file. A GIF, on the other hand, belongs in an image block. In both cases, be sure to enter alternative text: An image block in Rise 360 is only accessible if it has alternative text. For more information on what else to keep in mind, see “How can I create accessible content with Articulate?”

Transparent Background: WebM Instead of MP4 #

If you want a Vyond character to appear on the slide without a background, export it as a WebM file. An MP4 file renders the transparent area as white, while a GIF file only partially preserves transparency. Storyline 360 accepts WebM files without conversion, so that is the appropriate format here.

An embedded video file and an embedded streaming video behave differently within the course. For information on what can go wrong with videos from third-party sites, see ” Why isn’t my embedded video working in Articulate 360?”

Result

Vyond outputs MP4, GIF, or WebM files. Storyline 360 accepts the file via the Insert function.> video> Video from file , Rise 360 via a video or image block. From then on, it’s a course element like any other.
