How can I track my learners’ progress in e-learning?

To track the progress of an e-learning course, it must be uploaded to an LMS (Learning Management System) or an LRS (Learning Record Store).

For this purpose, the completed modules must be exported in SCORM format (for LMS) or cmi5 / xAPI format (for LRS).

In order for your e-learning course to be recognised as completed in your LMS or LRS, you must define the criteria according to which the “Completed” status is sent to your system.
Depending on the structure of your e-learning module, completion can be triggered based on the following criteria:

  • What percentage of the available slides (Storyline 360) or lessons (Rise 360) has been visited?
  • Has the learner completed the quiz in the e-learning course?
  • Storyline 360 only: Has a “Complete Course” trigger been activated?
  • Rise 360 only: Has the learner completed the “Storyline block”?

If you do not have an LMS or LRS, you can alternatively export your e-learning course as an HTML5 module. In this case, however, tracking learner progress is not easily possible.
